There are 115 described species in Australia occurring in all states and territories with the exception of Tasmania. They are small, soft skinned nocturnal lizards feeding mainly on arthropods. Geckos are egg-laying lizards with have sticky feet which allow these lizards to walk up and down smooth surfaces like glass.
